Weatherscape XT™ Render Manager makes automated content easy

Tuesday 12th June 2007

Continuous development of Metra’s weather presentation software - Weatherscape XT - has resulted in an impressively long list of features including Render Manager, which provides a simple and easyto- use interface for the automated production of images and 3D animations populated with the very latest weather data.

“Creating sophisticated images and animations for broadcast, web or mobile applications has never been easier,” says Tom Sutherland, International Sales and Marketing Manager, Metra.

Weatherscape XT is a full turn-key solution for weather graphics presentation and provides a single solution for weather presentation graphics and meteorological data. Pre-rendering is not required for any broadcast graphic with Weatherscape XT, so as soon as the data arrives it can be taken to air, giving the very latest information to viewers.

“The great thing is that once a weather show has been set up with Weatherscape XT, production can be completely automated, saving time and allowing presenters to concentrate on important breaking weather stories,” says Mr Sutherland.

Fusing meteorological science with the latest advances in computer graphics technology, Weatherscape XT builds unique, captivating weather shows for viewers.

“The virtual reality display capabilities of Weatherscape XT are phenomenal and take viewers right into the weather forecast. The same system - Weatherscape XT - also automates the delivery of shows suitable for web or mobile channels,” says Mr Sutherland.

Metra also delivers custom-built shows as movies for television, mobile or web with Weatherscape CLIP, as an alternative to having the Weatherscape XT system installed. The shows are populated with the latest world-wide weather data, rendered and delivered to specification.

Weatherscape XT is used by the world’s leading broadcasters, including the BBC, Channels Seven, Nine and SBS in Australia and CNBC stations internationally.

“A major part of our operations are dedicated to the continued development of the system to keep our customers at the forefront of weather presentation technology,” says Mr Sutherland.

Metra will be showing Weatherscape XT’s latest features at Broadcast Asia later this month.
